If you wish to register a new domain, use this utility to find a name which is available. You will be given a chance to choose the service you require once you have found a name. This facility can be used for both hosting and domain registration customers.

Transfer an existing domain

  • .com, .net or .org: In order to transfer a .com, .net or .org domain from another registrar we use the universal domain transfer system. When a transfer is requested an email is sent to the existing administrative contact - the contact is given an opportunity to approve or reject the transfer. Once approved by the existing contact the request is sent to the existing registrar who will probably verify the request themselves. Once they have approved the transfer the domain will be placed in our control. The process typically takes between 2 and 5 days.

    When a .com, .net or .org domain is transferred to us, the registration is automatically extended by another year from the end of the current registration - there is no need to worry about losing time you have already paid for when you transfer a .com, .net or .org domain to our care.

  • .uk: We are often asked how to transfer a .uk to us from another provider.

    .uk domains have a tag known as an IPSTAG associated with them which records which provider originally registered the domain and is allowed to make changes to the registration. Typically the IPSTAG holder will be responsible for billing the customer for subsequent years' registration.

    In order to transfer a domain to us from another provider you will need to have the existing provider re-tag the domain to ourselves. Once this has been done we will have access to the domain record and will be able to maintain this on your behalf.

    You should ask the existing provider to change the tag on the domain you wish to transfer to EMPOWERBUSINESS. We will be notified of the retagging and will be able to manage the domain from then on.
